Learn the changes in the different stages’ dementia and their way of communication and how to change your techniques to meet their needs. DC33 1.0 Nurse, SW, NHA Dementia Basics & Ethics of Communication with Dementia Patients You will learn about the various types and causes of dementia, the area of cognitive functioning and how one is evaluated neuropsychologically, and the effective ways of communicating with those with dementia. DC34 1.0 Nurse, SW, NHA Parkinson’s Disease and Memory Loss Memory loss is different than what you may see in other forms of dementia. Dr. LaVigne will discuss Parkinson’s disease dementia and the memory changes that occur. DC35 1.0 Nurse, SW, NHA Challenging and Aggressive Behaviors with a Person Living with Dementia Learn about common behaviors that occur with dementia, why they occur, and how to work with these behaviors. Discuss, practical approaches, and prevention of behaviors. De-escalation techniques will be discussed, how to do a behavioral assessment, and the importance of a follow up discussion after the behavioral event occurred. DC36 1.0 Nurses, SW, NHA
