Volunteers visit older adults weekly for an hour of conversation & connecting over a shared interest or activity, with options of meeting in-home, in a community setting., or by phone call. Must live in Northern suburbs or Chicago northside neighborhoods. Senior Handyman Program Simple home maintenance done at a reduced cost. Fees are dependent of income. Requirements: 60+ of age, only minor home repairs, all income levels welcome. NO emergency repairs. Examples of repairs done by insured reliable professionals: grab bars, hanging curtains, attic stairs, door locks, ceiling fan, light fixture, window repair, sink repair, screen repair, gutters cleaning, shower door, hanging pictures, putting up shelves, etc. Available in Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Des Plaines and Palatine & Wheeling Townships.
